Q 20# If you used a blog for your business, how would you use it?

Simply put, if you had a business (I’ll let you give an example of type or types), how would you use a blog to promote it?

Anybody can go and read blog of everybody you are interested in, so it is easy to make friends who have something in common with you even though they have never seen each other before. this is a chance of business to go well. for example, if I have a camera store, I first make my blog page including a lot of pictures I took. I also put an URL leading to my shop web sites with a comment like this, ‘I took this pictures by the camera, if you are interested in the camera, please visit the web sites’. the better the blog becomes, the more people visit the web sites of a camera store because the number of people browzing the blog increases. I would use blog in this way to promote my business if I had.

I’ll use blog to promote advertisement and do market research. I’ll let people know what our products are or what our company is on blog. I think it is easier for us to circulate much information to people about us or our products on blog than advertize with billboards or flyers.
Also, we should do market research. I think it is also easier for us to hear customers’s real voice, and know what they think about our products or us, also customers’ trend. In short, I think it is easier for us to make distance between us and customers closer, and make contact with them on blog, so we should advertise and do market research.

    Akio,

That is a very good example of using something you made to sell what you used to make it. Some photographers also sell photos and their services through their displays on their blogs.

Real companies now use blogs and Twitter to get feedback from customers. Starbucks, McDonalds, etc as well as smaller companies want to know what customers think. They also use these to respond more quickly to pull ads that customers don’t like.

  4. Misato Abe Says:

If I am one of the employee of manufacturing companies which sell , for example, electrical appliances or cosmetics, I would use blog attaching the new and renewed product information, the efficient way of using it and some campain information. Also I upload the user’s comments those are still hot. I want to make my blog well-designed and well-structured, so as many users would become the “fan” of our product.

  5. kasmersensei Says:

I can imagine even having videos embedded in the blog so customers could see some ways the new product could be used. It’s surprising as some electrical applianes can be used in ways you might not readily think of. Sometimes companies get new ways to use a product that the company didn’t orignally design it for when customers use it in a new way..

i would like to use a blog for telling what was going on yesterday or will be going on tomorrow. i can tell them new event or its review. they can find how is our shop and feel us closer. I can also put some secret word on it , if customers say that at our shop I would offer discount or some gift.

That’s an interesting idea. Some stores do that now in Japan, you can print out coupons from their websites.

  8. Itsumi Asakawa Says:

I would use a blog for gathering customers ideas of creating products.(It is actually MUJIRUSHI’s idea and they succeeded in it. You probably know it though.) We can hear what customers really want then make something new together.
Also I would love to put coupons on it. Put some secret information to make customers feel special.

    Itsumi,

Other companies do this already through forums (often tied to a blog). Companies can also weigh customer opinions about the company and what kind of image it has.
