the speaking skills of Takeshi is great, and he did not read the text much so that he could make good eye contact with the audience. honestly, I didn’t know that Japanese comics are so popular in France even though I had known that Dragon Ball is popular worldwide. I was really confortable with the explanation of the reason why Japanese comics are cheap relatively, it is because of circulation as he said. in short, I have got keen interest in the comic businesses in France due to his presentation. I feel that it is the most important points the presenters have to make in their presentation, so I do think that he did good job!

Urban mining is totally new idea to me, so her topic is also very interesting. I agree that Japan might be one of the abundant countries in rare metals because every people are surrounded by house appliances today. even though the logical is convincing to me, however I had slight difficulties in understanding what she said and she needed to see the audience more. in short, I was amazed at the creativity of her ideas.

I agree with Akio. Takeshi had a great presentation. he talked with confidence. that made me into the presentation. but I dont still think comic industry will be successful in France. only poeple who are interested in Japan want to buy japanese comics I guess. the word ” OTAKU” is well known all over the world recentry. I assume that only that kind of france ( who is really interested in Japanese amimation) buy them. the important thing is thinking about the future as he said as a conclusion.

Urban Mine is really good and new idea. people should care about environment more and more. this topic adjusts to our recent consideration. but my consideration is taking urban mine out of electrical appliances make more pollution from recycling factory. this idea might be able to reduce garbage but how about air pollution which is producted at the step of disposing. still this is a quite interesting topic so we can think about how it works well more. if she’d had eyecontacs and louder voive it would have been a better presentaion.

As two students stated above, I found out Takeshi’s eye contact and the loudness of voice were fantastic, and it seems he was quite motivated in talking what he believes. These elements would be a great help for me to understand his viewpoints clearly. Although I am still skeptical about the popularity of Japanese comics will last for a while in France (which was the question I threw at the class), I am beginning to think it is worth while challenging. Maybe Takeshi’s motivation moved me feeling like taking a chance.

As the idea of “urban mining” was quite new to me, I enjoyed hearing what it was. Although I still want more explanation about its advantages, business strategies and so forth, I roughly think this is a very trendy idea for the current society in which the words such as “eco” and “recycle” are admireble. I understand maybe Yingying was a little bit nervous when she was talking because it happens to me very often. But I think her point of view was brilliant!

  4. Takeshi Sumi Says:

Kasmer, sould I write a comment? I was presenter, right.

Anway, as I said in my presentation, actually I’m not sure if japanese comic books will be successful in the future completely, and maybe nobady can’t be sure about what kind products will be successful in the future. But, I think if people think there is possibility about the business which they think will be successful or products after they do their best to to do research about them, they should promote them to make money even if they have no choice but take risk. Who knows about future? Naturally, nobady knows. Therefore, I wanted to say this in the presentation. “If you want to be successful in business and you do your best to guess what you have to do or sell to be successful, also make decision about what you will do in the future to realize your goal, don’t look back, believe yourself and keep going even if it seems like it is risky.”
Today, some people have been successful in business all over the world, but I don’t think they were successful by nature. So, why are they successful, now? I think, they did as I said. They worked very hard to think about future, and guess what is going on, also they believed themselves once they made decision.

What do you think of my opinion, Kasmer?

  5. kasmersensei Says:

    Takeshi,

I agree, working hard, trying to guess what trends will be popular, and a little bit of luck often combine to make people successful. A lot of people are driven by what they think future trends might be.

Bill Gates himself thought the Internet at first would not radically change the way people used PCs. He and Microsoft quickly changed course just a few years later.

Den Fujita fought with the American Headquarters over his strategy to target urban areas with McDonald’s outlets in Japan (rather than the traditional suburban branches). This same strategy was later adopted in the US after proving to be very successful in Japan.

Even companies who dominate parts of specific markets can not forsee all the kinds of changes that will happen.

I am so sorry for late response.
The presentation was awesome and well prepared! Takeshi didn’t look at anything and he spoke confidently which caught our attention. Takeshi’s was very interesting to me cause I didnt know that Japanese manga was amazingly famous in France. I hope the Japanese manga will be more famous thatn it is now. I wanna see a city like Akihabara in France! hehe

Also she did a great one! Urban mining is a totally new idea for me! Global warming is a serious problem and we gotta figure out how to make the situation better. All of business ought to consider to be environmentally friendly. So I think she has a great sense of business! Only one thing that I ‘d like to mention is if she could have been more confident, the presentation would have been perfect!
